WEMT Course Content

Due to the nature of our advanced curriculum, this course will require a significant weekly commitment to module work in English, Maths, and General Ability.

Writing modules teach the most efficient methods for organising and structuring writing tasks, with a focus on developing critical thinking and reasoning skills.

English lessons will focus on reading skills, comprehension, and answering multiple-choice questions.

Maths lessons are essential for developing a thorough understanding of mathematical theories, principles, and formulas.

Thinking Skills lessons will cover a variety of practical, challenging, and stimulating questions in mathematical reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking.

STTC COURSE

STTC Course Outline

The Term 2 selective Trial Test Course is a comprehensive program designed for Year 5 students to prepare them for the Selective High School Placement Test (SHSPT).

STTC Course Content

Students will attempt a trial test each week and subsequently review the questions + solutions with our teachers, focusing more heavily on the difficult questions.

By taking the course, students will be able to practise SHSPT style questions under exam conditions and learn how to manage their test time efficiently, minimise errors, overcome exam nerves and perform at their optimum level in the actual exam. It will help them to build their confidence to succeed in the 2025 selective high school placement tests.

Students’ test results will be available on Cyberschool immediately after each session. Their writing test submissions will also be marked and the reports made available on Cyberschool as soon as possible.

SELECTIVE WRITING COURSE

Selective Writing Course Outline

Our new Year 5 Writing for Selective (CBT) course is specifically engineered to bridge the gap between good writing and exam excellence. We focus on the two foundational pillars of success: Narrative and Persuasive mastery.

Selective Writing Course Content

Students learn essential writing skills through the most frequently tested formats, including news reports, diary entries, reviews, advertisements, and advice pieces.

Our Secret Weapon: The "One Topic" Method
Unlike traditional courses that jump between random subjects, we use one central topic to explore all writing forms. This unique pedagogical approach offers distinct advantages:

  • Form Shapes Thinking: Students learn that changing the format changes the mindset. A story captures emotion, while a news report demands clinical objectivity.

  • Cognitive Efficiency: By keeping the topic constant, students don’t waste energy "inventing" new ideas. Instead, they focus entirely on mastering the structure and tone required.

  • Separating Fact from Feeling: We teach students how to isolate emotion, opinion, and evidence—ensuring they never accidentally include personal bias in an objective task.

  • Exam Agility: Students train their brains to switch writing styles instantly—an essential skill for the CBT.

  • Why it works: Because examiners reward strict adherence to form, this method makes correct structure second nature.
